Pedestrian Warning Lights

Pedestrian lighting refers to illumination systems designed to increase the visibility of people crossing roadways, including overhead crosswalk lighting, LED-embedded road markers, and flashing beacons. These systems improve nighttime and low-visibility safety by highlighting pedestrians to oncoming drivers at crosswalks, school zones, and intersections.

A pedestrian alert system detects when someone enters or approaches a crossing and automatically activates warning devices—such as RRFBs, flashing beacons, or LED signs—to notify drivers. Activation can be triggered by a push-button, radar sensor, or scheduled timing, reducing driver desensitization compared to constantly-on warning lights.
