This introductory traffic signal course designed to enable entry-level traffic personnel to acquire a basic knowledge of a traffic signal system. The course study will be broad and basic. The student will acquire a basic understanding of the various traffic signal system components, signal timing and signal phasing plans.
This introductory course will cover the technology and various options available for detection of vehicles at the intersection as well as freeways. Includes an overview of loop detection, video detection, radar, and in-ground, wireless detection systems. This course will feature, the Econolite, Autoscope®, Accuscan® and Accusense®
detection products.
This basic level course is designed to enable the participants to obtain an understanding of fundamental concepts standard practices related to traffic signal timing and coordination of signalized intersections along an arterial network.
